Terms and Conditions – APL Couriers Limited

1. Acceptance of Terms

​By booking a service or requesting a quote from APL Couriers Limited, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Quotation and Pricing

2.1 Quotes are estimates based on the information you provide and exclude customs duties, taxes, or inspections unless stated otherwise. All quoted prices include VAT.
2.2 We may adjust the quote or add charges if:

  • Fuel prices or currency rates change significantly.

  • You request extra services (e.g., packing, dismantling).

  • Delays occur due to restricted access, parking issues, or waiting time.
    2.3 Quotes are valid for 28 days from the date of issue. If not accepted in writing within this period, prices may change.
    2.4 Additional fees may apply for:

  • Moving items to/from upper floors without an elevator: £25-£45 per floor, depending on staircase size and furniture dimensions.

  • Parking costs if free parking isn’t available.

  • Waiting time beyond our control: £50/hour per van, charged only after the first hour of waiting for the customer or property keys.

3. Payment Terms

3.1 A mandatory deposit of 25% of the quoted price is required to secure your booking.
3.2 Full payment must be made no later than 3 days before the scheduled move date, unless agreed otherwise in writing.
3.3 Payments can be made via bank transfer, debit/credit card, or cash (by prior arrangement only).
3.4 Late payments incur a £15/day penalty after 7 days from the due date. We may withhold goods until full payment is received.

4. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

4.1 Cancellations:

  • Cancellations made more than 7 days before the scheduled move date are free of charge, and the full 25% deposit will be refunded.

  • Cancellations made less than 7 days but more than 3 days before the move date result in forfeiture of the 25% deposit.

  • Cancellations made less than 3 days before the move date incur a 50% cancellation fee of the total quoted price.

  • If full payment has been made:

    • For cancellations more than 3 days but less than 7 days before the move, we refund 75% of the total price (deducting the 25% deposit).

    • For cancellations less than 3 days before the move, we refund 50% of the total price.
      4.2 Rescheduling:

  • Requests to reschedule made more than 7 days before the move date are free of charge, subject to availability.

  • Requests made less than 7 days but more than 3 days before the move date incur a £25 administrative fee.

  • Requests made less than 3 days before the move date incur a £50 administrative fee, unless an alternative date is agreed upon at no extra cost (at our discretion).

 

5. Restricted and Prohibited Items

5.1 We will not move the following unless agreed in writing by a company director:

  • Illegal goods, stolen items, or controlled substances.

  • Hazardous materials (e.g., gas cylinders, explosives, chemicals).

  • High-value items (e.g., jewellery, cash, documents, collectibles).

  • Perishable goods or items that may attract pests.
    5.2 If prohibited items are found, you must collect them within 7 days, or we may dispose of them at your expense.

 

6. Liability and Claims

6.1 We are liable for loss or damage to goods in our possession only if caused by our negligence.
6.2 Maximum liability is £100 per item unless you declare a higher value in writing before the move (extra charges may apply).
6.3 We are not responsible for:

  • Pre-existing damage or defects.

  • Electrical/mechanical faults unless caused by our handling.

  • Damage from inadequate packing by the customer.

  • Issues reported after our team leaves the premises.

 

7. Insurance Coverage

7.1 Included at no extra cost: £20,000 Goods in Transit and £1,000,000 Public Liability coverage.
7.2 Additional insurance is available on request before the move (subject to extra charges).
7.3 Insurance does not cover prohibited items (Section 5) or damage due to customer negligence.

 

8. Use of Sub-Contractors

8.1 We may use reputable sub-contractors for parts of the service, but these Terms and Conditions still apply.

 

9. Delays and Force Majeure

9.1 We are not liable for delays due to traffic, weather, accidents, or other events beyond our control.
9.2 We’ll notify you as soon as possible of any delays and work to reschedule if needed.

 

10. Disputes and Complaints

10.1 Report disputes in writing within 7 days of the move.
10.2 Unresolved issues may go to an independent arbitrator or court if necessary.

 

11. Amendments

11.1 We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on our website and effective immediately.
